Jaap van der Dussen
Born in 1948 in The Hague, Netherlands, lives in Heiloo, Netherlands. He has painted since 1980, in the beginning figurative favouring the human form. His work gradually became more abstract, expressive and larger. At the moment he uses only acrylic because this material lends itself pre-eminently to his impulsive, exuberant way of painting. The stroke of his brush or knife has gradually become broader and more direct. His colours are straight, clear and striking. Van der Dussen works only in his studio and without a clear-cut plan. The impulse of the moment is the start of an unpredictable outcome. One can often recognize something, but sometimes his work is totally abstract. It is the unpredictable that surprises every time and makes each of his paintings so different. He has had expositions across the Netherlands and at the "Biënnale" in Florence in 2005. Much of his work is in private hands.
